It’s been too long!
I was reminded today that my site is grossly out of date. In truth, this is partly down to the fact that my camera is never charged when I create, and my previous phone's camera let me down in dramatic, red-hue style. I now have a new phone with a funkaliscious camera so watch out for better photos from now on.
But not tonight world. Tonight I ate Moroccan food and watched Regina get her happy ending.
So, Easter is out of the way and we have a week off. We are relaxing again at Primrose Cottage in Dorset. It's a lovely place in the middle of nowhere and we are here with agendas; Kate is making revisions to her book (the third one, I think) and I am here to spend a little time on my blog, and also to create some recipe ideas.
Last time we were here, I mentioned the lack of a whisk when the owners popped in to say hi. I was busy making a triple-chocolate mousse as I recall. This time, ...
Happy New Year!
Wow, January came round very quickly! I must catch up and put some more recipes online!
Christmas was a time of indulgence. A lot of baking and cooking was done, including yule logs, stollen, and of course on the day itself, turkey (cooked for the first time!) and beef. Everything went to plan, the turkey being very moist, and the beef beautifully pink in the middle. A good time was had by all, and I hope you all had a good Christmas too!
Have a brilliant year, and look for more ramblings ...
It’s that time of year…
So, December approaches. It's that particular time of year which I don't talk about, or think about until at least mid-December, but this year it is a little different.
We have decided to give out home-made gift baskets to family and close friends. I have just taken delivery of 72, yes, 72 half-size jars. This weekend will see a kitchen overflowing with chutneys, jams etc.
My wife has started making some decorations to include, and we have drawn up a list of things to make and put ...
Weekends in my house are strange occasions. Due to both parties being on second marriages, each weekend is different. This weekend for example, we have the kids. Next week, we won't have any kids!
At least, that is what has happened until recently.
So, the kids in order of age are 21, 19, 17, 13, 11.
21 year-old boy has left home, and is currently in Australia staying with his uncle. We don't see him very often. 19 year old girl has full independence but still lives at home. She has a ...
The time is almost here…
It's that time of year when everything gets a little darker, colder and, for some people, a bit sad.
Not me, I love all seasons. This is the time when I start thinking about winter warmers like thick soups, and comfort foods like my famous brownies.
Now, when I say famous, they are. Within the family, and with certain other distinguished parties. Not just anyone gets to try my brownies. Oh no, not just anyone.
If I offer you a brownie, it is a sure sign that, "hey, I like you, d'you, ...
A week away, at last!
I have just come back from a week away in Dorset. It's not often I get away. Not often at all. In fact, the last time my wife and I went away was for two days, about 8 years ago!
My wife and I stayed at a little cottage in Marnhull, kind of between Shaftesbury and Sherborne. It was a lovely little place, newly renovated and really well thought-out. And the best part it is for two people only!
The cottage is owned by Rachel and Pete Orchard. Pete is a builder, and looking at the ...
New home, same website
Well, what a fun day this has been. I bought serendipity.co.uk a week or so back, when it became available, according to the domain registrar. Turns out they jumped the gun and transferred it out before the grace period was up. So Nominet took the domain back.
So here is the same website on a new domain name! Welcome to my new home!
I don't like claiming on insurance. Much less do I like claiming on someone else's insurance. But we recently noticed a small tiny leak on our incoming stopcock in the kitchen. The drop was very slight, in fact the pipe was only damp, it was that small. I tried tightening the nut but it didn't want to move. So I called in a plumber. He was heaving and grunting away and then said it was still leaking. He also said he would need to order parts as it wasn't a standard size.
Anyway, a couple of ...
Highly Technical Crowd
So last night the wife and I headed to London. I'd been invited to a meeting by HTC Elevate staff, to preview their next offering, the HTC One Mini.
It was great to meet some of the people I see on Twitter or in the HTC members website. Some were as expected, others, well, geek doesn't even cover it! Some people turned up with bagfuls of gear, including ancient handsets and laptops.
In the giveaways, there were phones and other goodies. I went there with the ambition of winning an Android ...
